Introduction

The Windows HomeGroup feature provides a simple method of sharing printers, folders and files with other Windows computers connected to your local network. Any computer running Windows 7 or later can join a HomeGroup.

Prerequisites

Connect all devices including pos stations, remote displays and back office computers to the network router using a Cat6 Ethernet cable. Connect tablets to the router using the WiFi connection.

Create a HomeGroup

Click Start/Settings/Network & Internet

Click Status/HomeGroup

If a HomeGroup has not been created by any computer on the local network, the following screen will appear prompting the user to create a new HomeGroup.

If a HomeGroup was previously created the following will appear.

Click Create a Homegroup and choose what to share with other HomeGroup computers. Note that AmigoPOS does not require any of the libraries to be shared with other computers.

Wait a few moments while the libraries are shared.

The HomeGroup password is displayed on the confirmation screen. Make a note of the password so that other computers on the network can connect to the HomeGroup.

Repeat the process at all other computers on the network, including tablets. Since a HomeGroup was previously created by another computer on the network, the following will appear on the other computers, prompting the user to join an existing HomeGroup.
