AmigoPOS supports serial port scales that are compatible with the NCI-PROTOCOL. Most scales can be programmed to use the NCI protocol, and many popular scales such as the CAS PD-2 and Weigh-tronix 6720 use the NCI protocol by default. Refer to the scale's user manual for programming instructions.

Download a PDf document describing the NCI protocol here.

Open Windows Control Panel | Device Manager and double-click on the serial port to view the properties, Make a note of the port number and verify that the communication settings are set to 9600-8-N-1.

Open back office | settings | devices | scale, enable the scale, select Serial Port interface and select the correct port number. Set the serial port communication settings to 9600-7-E-1.

Run the pos, start a new order, add a bulk weight item and verify that the correct weight is displayed on screen.

A test utility is provided in back office in order to verify that the scale is using the correct protocol. Open the scale settings screen and click Test Scale to open the utility. Verify that the pos is not running because 2 applications cannot access the same port simultaneously.

The example below displays the weight from a scale using the NCI protocol. Note that the scale may return the weight in LB, oz, or kg.
